After I ate a delicious piece of french toast at Beaterville, I walked to the park with Nathan and Tyrone. The other day it was raining and I was going to get up and do this art project but for some reason I was distracted and I ended up not doing it. Fortunately for me, turning it into a TEAM OMDS project not only made the endeavour deeper and more meaningful, but allowed for better filming and ultimately more fun.
Later in the afternoon I stopped by Diana's to drop something off and heard that the girl who got my job, the job I totally had one second and didn't the next, just moved here from L.A. and some woman at the film office told the production that they HAD to hire her. WTF. Is this for real? I have half a mind to write that woman the most awful email. But I won't. That's something younger Jenna would have done but older Jenna knows better. Older Jenna is actually going to use this to her advantage.
It's only the second day of my new video blog and I'm already exhausted! It takes more than a whole day just to make one video! I had a goal of getting one up a day but I'm already backed up about half a day to make that happen. It's kind of awesome. It's like I get up and have to think of something to talk about or do and it takes all day just to do it, upload the footage, edit, render, export, upload, write, etc. I absolutely love today's blog though. Watch it and leave feedback. I love feedback. You can also tell TEAM OMDS what you think of our latest graffiti.
Nathan and Ty thanks for helping with today's unemployment chronicles. You rock. But dang Ty, I don't know how you draw so well when your hands shake like that.. maybe it's different when you're holding a camera.

day one
First and foremost though, this was supposed to be a video blog. I'd rather you watch the video than read anything I have to say. Watch first. Read later. I'm rad. You're rad. Let's hug.
well. Day one doesn't really mean day one of me being unemployed. It also doesn't mean it's a blog about being unemployed, although that will surely be a topic of conversation. It means it is day one of the video blog I started BECAUSE I'm unemployed. I haven't worked since December 20th, I think. Which isn't really that long ago.. considering the holidays and everything.
Today's topic was just a series of random venting, explaining, or character development. You have also been introduced to one of only a few supporting characters in my story. As the weeks progress I hope to move away from talking about myself and my troubles and have this blog develop into an entity for sharing not only thoughts but art, ideas, and humor. I will do my best to make the clips entertaining and not too lengthy. All criticism helps (as does support).
Another major goal of this project is to fine tune all of my skills as a filmmaker. I strongly believe almost all footage has value and can be presented in a visually stimulating way. The more I practice making videos the better I will get at the whole process.
The written blog contains some of the topics in the days video but usually has extra details. Sometimes things happen in the day that simply can't be caught on camera or must be deemed to late to make the morning press. I had to realize, at what point would I have to make myself stop filming? Otherwise this story would just be endless and I would keep adding more. My new philosophy as a director is get rid of it!! If it's not vastly important to the plot or character development get rid of it! Unnecessary footage can be the difference between someone watching your entire video and not watching it at all. If only I could limit my words in such a manner.
